The Women Behind The Blue-Footed Booby

Earlier this year, we had the great pleasure of visiting the team at Ink Dwell in dreamy Half Moon Bay, California. After two long years apart due to the pandemic, it felt special to finally meet in person, talk shop, and hatch ideas for the rollout of our latest collaboration: the Blue-footed Booby sneaker.

I’ve long admired Jane Kim, the founder of Ink Dwell and the brilliant artist behind the Booby illustrations that became the embroidery on our shoe. Jane’s work combines art, science, and storytelling in a way that feels alive—and bringing her vision into the Le Mondeur world has been nothing short of inspiring.

This project was about more than just creating a shoe. It was about celebrating collaboration, artistry, and the power of women bringing ideas to life. Standing side by side with Jane in the Ink Dwell studio, I felt the importance of showing the faces and stories behind the creations we share with you.

The Blue-footed Booby quickly sold out, but its story continues to live on through the people who made it possible. We hope you enjoy not just the final product but also the glimpse into the creative journey and the women who made it happen.
