The Monarch in Moda is the result of a remarkable collaboration between Le Mondeur and Ink Dwell, the celebrated studio known for transforming nature into monumental works of art. Founded by artist Jane Kim and science communicator Thayer Walker, Ink Dwell’s mission is to inspire love and stewardship of the natural world through art that celebrates the beauty and complexity of life on Earth. Their Monarch in Moda mural in Ogden, Utah, captures the epic migration of the monarch butterfly — a story of resilience, transformation, and interconnectedness across continents.

Le Mondeur brings that same story to life through craft: over 50,000 hand-embroidered stitch points recreate the mural’s intricate wings and motion, each thread placed by master artisans in Portugal. The result is a piece of wearable art — vivid, purposeful, and deeply human — uniting global craftsmanship with ecological storytelling in every step.

The Le Mondeur × Ink Dwell collection brings Jane Kim’s celebrated nature murals to life as limited-edition sneakers, transforming large-scale artworks into wearable design. Each pair is handcrafted in Portugal with vegan, eco-friendly materials and detailed embroidery — from 50,000 stitches capturing the monarch butterfly’s vibrant wings to nearly 200,000 threads depicting the playful blue-footed booby. More than shoes, they are art in motion, blending craftsmanship, conservation, and style with every step. Inspired by murals that celebrate biodiversity, the designs carry the same sense of scale and storytelling as Jane’s public works. Every stitch becomes a brushstroke, translating the wonder of nature into a form you can walk in.

For unworn shoes, we provide a 14-day return policy on non-final sale and non-preorder items. Shoes must be returned in their original packaging without any signs of wear. Return shipping is complimentary.
